About Me

Denis Rogers

Star Navigator

Denis emigrated to Canada in the early 50’s, to join the Royal Canadian Air Force as a navigator, flying with the 416 Squadron. He then traveled back to his native Ireland where he qualified as a doctor, only to return to Canada to practice medicine in the small west coast town of Sechelt, BC. He always maintained his interest of navigation, hiking and biking in remote areas of the BC Coast – well into his 80’s – with a compass and a fistful of maps in his pack. He put together this introduction of celestial navigation hoping that it might be helpful for anyone interested in learning to navigate by the stars.
